The Teacher: ANTHONY CORRALES
Scholastic Director, Lecturer and Trainer at the Mechanics' Institute of San Francisco - the oldest Chess Club in the United States. Teaches classes to children and adults, from beginners to masters. Trainer for MI Team, both junior and US Chess League, organizer of FIDE tournaments, from s rating tournaments to norm tournaments, both IM and GM. Trained many of our top junior players in the area and country. Under his supervision, several of our students had become US and state chess champions.
Chess has many educational benefits, giving children intellectual capital and transferable skills such as focus, discipline, concentration, spatial awareness and strategic thinking. Visualization approaches, and the unification of strategy with tactics will be the focus of this study. Chess equipment is provided by the school. Classes meet twice a week.
